The barrel is an important component of an extruder, which works in conjunction with the screw. The barrel contains the screw, and the screw rotates inside the barrel. When the screw rotates and pushes the material forward in the barrel, the heat is transmitted to the material inside the barrel by the external heating of the barrel. In addition, the volume of the thread on the screw gradually decreases, causing the material in the threaded groove to be evenly mixed and melted under high temperature and pressure. As it moves towards the front of the barrel, it gradually melts into a viscous flow state, completing the melting of the material.
The barrel can be embedded or non-embedded, with various types of sleeves including integral, alloy composite, and C-type.

MATERIALS:
(1) Barrel Body
Block type barrel body is used by cubic formed forged steel block.
(2) Barrel Liner
Inside of barrelis liner type.lt is used to different materials such as wear resistance materials according to the raw material.
Common barrel materials:
①45 # steel.
②42CrMo steel.
③Nitrided steel (38CrMoAl).
④6542 (W6Mo5Cr4V2): Tungsten molybdenum series universal high-speed steel.
⑤304 food grade stainless steel.
⑥ 316 high-end stainless steel.
Segments and Functions of the Barrel:
The barrel is generally divided into five segments: feeding segment, melting segment, mixing segment, venting segment, homogenizing segment.
① Feeding segment: This segment is responsible for conveying the material and preventing overflow.
② Melting segment: In this segment, the material is fully melted and homogenized through heat transfer and frictional shear.
③ Mixing segment: The mixing segment further refines and homogenizes the size and distribution of the material components,creating an ideal structure with dispersion and distribution mixing functionality.
④ Venting segment: This segment is used to exhaust impurities such as water vapor and low molecular weight substances.
⑤ Homogenizing (metering) segment: The homogenizing segment is responsible for conveyingand pressurizing the material, increasing the density of thematerial at the extruder outlet to a certain extent, establishing a certain pressure, and achieving more thorough mixing to ultimately achieve a stable foundation.
